Oh wow, so another one of these weird blog posts where I update you guys about my life

I don't really have that much to talk about, on account of the fact that nothing much has happened aside from college related things. With that said, I'm gonna try and explain these two subjects I have in mind, in great detail just for the sake of explaining them in great detail.

First order of business. I have finally got around to fixing up a guitar that I bought a former classmate at a completely different college. For context, when I was at another college on an incredibly dreary course that I didn't enjoy one bit, I became friends with this guy who was in a band. He was a vocalist and evidently had no interest in playing guitar. He offered me a pretty beat up, off brand flying V for around £20. There was no nut or strings on the guitar. I paid him and he gave me the guitar. As time went by, that guitar was just sitting around, collecting dust until I decided that I wanted to fix it up, originally with the intention of selling it. I ordered two nuts, because I wasn't sure on what measurements the original nut was. I got a 43mm and a 44mm nut. I ordered two packs of Ernie Ball Regular Slinky strings and put them on the guitar. I played it for a while and realised that I liked how comfy the guitar was and how good it sounded. Especially for a guitar from the 1980s. I haven't recorded anything with the guitar yet but I plan on installing some strap locks on it and using it for an upcoming gig (that gig will be mentioned later)

Second order of business. I have recently bought a wah pedal. I recently purchased a Dunlop original cry baby wah pedal. Not much else to say, since I'm still experimenting with the pedal and I'm trying to get used to it.

Third order of business, I have a gig coming up soon. Actually, I have two gigs. One gig is just a showcase and the second gig is horror themed. I am planning on playing three songs for the horror themed gig, London Dungeon by the Misfits, Bad Voodoo by Kreeps and You Suffer by Napalm Death. With that said, a video will accompany the performance and my music lecturer said that he will try and get into contact with the current members of Napalm Death to be in the video. So, to put it bluntly, I cannot fucking wait.

Anyway, that's all

Peace (except not really because I'm not a hippie)

WHAT THE FUCK IS UP BITCHES?! IT'S BEEN A HOT MINUTE!

Okay so it's actually been about 9 days since I last made a news post to this account and I really wanted to make an update as to what's currently going on. So for starters, I've been working on my band (Tapeworms On My Penis) and a few announcements regarding that will be coming further down the news post. I've still been going to college. Since we couldn't record anything in the morning (due to an exam going on), two of my classmates and I went to a nearby record store and bought some shit. I bought "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath and "Thunderbolt" by Saxon. I also bought a Slayer tour shirt and also a NOFX 30th anniversary tour shirt. We then went to a comic store next to the record store and I bought a Sonic The Hedgehog comic, a KISS comic and also the first issue in the "I Hate Fairyland" revival series. After that, I spent some time in the studio, helping a few of my classmates with recording some material. Basically, I was chilling in the control room making sure that the guys are actually recording the shit that they're playing while also running into the recording room to tell them how shit they are. I was doing this because the microphone in the control room wasn't working and the band couldn't hear me or the other guy. I ended the day by recording a cover of Dani California by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I left my Les Paul guitar at the college in the practice room (Thankfully, the room is locked during the weekends and when nobody is using the room). With that said, I'm now gonna talk about the band shit.

The first thing I really wanted to do for the band was to be sure to try and claim the name on as many social media platforms I could. Currently I have the band name registered on Instagram, Twitter and I have also created an NG account specifically for posting singles and outtakes. I had a hard time creating a YouTube account for the band because YouTube are little corporate politically correct fucking sissies who don't like our band name so I had to resort to using an abbreviation for that channel. Either way, the band now has a metric ass-load of social media accounts. We don't have anything recorded just yet and We're still looking for a drummer but it's still nice to prepare for the future. With that said, I'm gonna listen to some more music and then I'm gonna go to sleep for a couple of hours.

Peace,

-Sylvain

I don't know how to introduce this so I'm just gonna get to the point and then explain all of the shit that I think is necessary. I'm feeling pretty fucking dead at the moment because my neck hurts and I'm incredibly tired. I might take a paracetamol for the former thing and get some sleep to help with the latter thing. Anyway, back to the main subject at hand.

So on my computer, I have a folder which is dedicated to all of the music I made. I have sub folders dedicated to albums I wanted to make, demos and early versions of songs that I have made, outtakes and more importantly, uncut sessions. Since I've kinda changes career paths from making metal to making punk music, I really want to compile all of the metal (and also some alternative) music I have made into one big demo compilation album of sorts and possibly release it here.

Again, this is just a hypothetical and I probably won't do it for a long time. For the time being, expect some acoustic stuff because I can't access BIAS FX for a while and won't be able to record stuff from that.

'Sup shitlickers?

So in case if you didn't know (and by that I mean, you're not reading these news posts at all), I am currently enrolled on a music college after jumping through so many loops to get there, I played my first (and possibly) only gig and I also made a lot of friends on the course. Unfortunately, these friends I have made don't really share the same ideas as me but nevertheless, I still hang out with them and consider them my friends.

So, with that being said, on to the main topic at hand (or hoof if you're DrunkGecko). I have been assigned with a project which is basically to create something of my own choosing. I have decided to make a Death Metal EP. Why? because I fucking love Death Metal, I also love gore and it's the perfect excuse to use the band name Tapeworms On My Penis.

Now here's the problem...

all of my classmates want me to do other shit, leaving me with no time to actually do the thing that I want to do. I've been tasked with doing a Red Hot Chilli Peppers cover, an Eminem cover and today, I had to do a fucking Nirvana cover. Are you all beginning to see the problem? I don't wanna fucking do covers all the time, I wanna do some original shit. I didn't come on to the course just to do cover after cover after fucking cover. I've done the necessary covers for the course, now I wanna go off and do some fucking original shit. But I can't because I have everyone else wanting me to do covers with them.

I know I sound like a massive whining little livejournal bitch... but fuck you, I'm well within my right to be one.

I've got shit I wanna do and I can't do that if I'm constantly doing shitty covers of songs by bands that already exist. Like, why? what's the fucking appeal of imitating other bands? I know a lot of bands out there start off as cover bands but I don't wanna do that shit for the entirety of a college course. And what really sucks is that I'm being even more of a whiny bitch because I haven't put my foot down and actually said "hold the fucking presses, I don't wanna do this shit, I have ideas, I have plans and I can't do that shit if I'm stuck here being ShittyNirvana. I don't fucking want that! who the fuck wants to be in a covers band all their life only to get tuppence in return?"

Tomorrow is a new day and if it's gonna be like yesterday where we have more freedom, I'm gonna ask my lecturer if I can actually use the studio to lay down some demo tracks for this EP.
